Promoting a Fantasy Saga

The first book in The Chronicles of the Ordained will be released on August 2.

Follow the sweeping fantasy adventure entrenched in royal intrigue, powerful foes, and magical exploits. Beware the saga contains sword & sorcery, dragons and fleogans, and witches and wizards.

My intention was to put out The Oath on Amazon Vella. There are four episodes up. I'm rethinking that approach. My thought was by putting the first book out on Amazon Vella, I would garner attention to the series and gain followers. The problem—trying to break into a different genre is difficult and Amazon is no help. I have yet to figure out how to promote and attract readers to the story on Vella.

So the way it works is that I'm posting about Amazon Vella on my social media and email list which helps brings readers to Amazon Vella, but there is no reciprocation from Amazon. I've made the decision to keep the four episodes up, but I'm not putting the rest up unless there is sufficient response on Vella.

I have found Vella to be extremely frustrating. Amazon has always been frustrating. The plan now is to keep The Oath in KDP for the first three months since I don't have another book to promote with it. But....after those three months, I will be releasing the second book in the series, The Curse. At that time, I will pull The Oath out of KDP and it will go wide everywhere.

Promoting is a lot harder than worldbuilding. I wish all I had to do was write.

I would love to hear back from any of you that have read anything on Vella. What do you think of it? Maybe you guys can help me figure it out.

Have a great day! Take care and be safe!
